Ask HN: Video recommendation platform as a way to compete with YouTube?

I've seen a discussion lately about how YouTube has a monopoly and that no one can compete with Google on this because YouTube is not profitable. Content creators don't want to leave the platform because of discoverability. The audience doesn't want to leave the platform because of content creators. I've seen people suggest that we should do like blogs were in the past, decentralized. Everyone had their blog hosted on their own domains. The pitfall is that it is hard to be discovered. That's why we saw the rise of medium and substack. The idea just came to me. Why don't we just make a platform that crawls the internet for videos and build a recommendation algorithm. Therefore no matter where you host your videos you'll be easily discover? This seems to fix the problem of discoverability while allowing decentralization or outright another platform to get traction.
