Today I received an email from Coinbase regarding them discontinuing all services to some accounts: Hello, This is regarding your account linked to xxxxx. We are reaching out to inform you that we will be discontinuing all services to your above-mentioned account, as we will be disabling access for the accounts that no longer meet our updated standards for these services. Please note that you will be able to access Coinbase.com or the Coinbase app until 25th September 2023 and should withdraw any funds held in your account by such date. Your funds remain secure with us, and you are able to send funds to other crypto wallets or services (subject to standard network and transaction fees), including Coinbase Wallet. Coinbase Wallet is our self-custody wallet, giving you complete control of your crypto. Coinbase Wallet supports hundreds of thousands of tokens and decentralized apps, so you can trade crypto, collect NFTs, and much more. Thank you for your understanding. Regards, The Coinbase Team From that email I understood that the change would be effective next 25th September 2023. But when I tried to login I was greet with a 403 forbidden error. Asked support and got the following responses: Support response: Upon checking, your account got disabled. As the most trusted and secure crypto platform, we regularly monitor our systems and actively manage our product to provide the best user experience. In the course of a recent routine review of our systems, we identified some accounts that no longer meet our updated standards. We are therefore disabling a number of accounts and will allow customers to update their information at a later date. Your funds remain secure with us, and you’ll be able to send funds to other crypto wallets or services (subject to standard network and transaction fees), including Coinbase Wallet. ^^^ Support Response I asked about the date, but got the same response: Support reponse: As the email states, we are discontinuing all services to accounts that no longer meet our updated standards for these services. At this time, we do not know when we will be able to offer these services to you again. If applicable, you should withdraw any funds held in your account by 25th September 2023. If you do not have anywhere to send your crypto, check out Coinbase Wallet where you can store and manage all of your crypto in one place. ^^^ Support Response In my case I haven't used that account since years ago, so I guess that they just disabled it for being not used... which is sort of fine. But I find very surprising that they blocked access immediately, so I cannot even verify if I had some funds there or anything. Even when they clearly mention Sept 25th.
