Ask HN: What would it take for you to return to the office?

I've been working from home since long before the pandemic. I've always found it preferable to any office environment I've worked in prior, mostly for the usual reasons like autonomy, improved work/life balance, time and money saved not commuting, and so on. Lately, I've been thinking a lot about the future of my career, reviewing job postings, and such. With so many non-remote positions supposedly available, I'm left wondering if there's even any environment outside of my home that I'd be willing to work in. At this point, short of tripling my current salary, it feels difficult to imagine anything else that would make it worthwhile to give up working from home. Is anyone in a similar situation? Do you work from home? If so, what would it take for you to give that up?
